Now playing: “Dance Off”

Earlier today Hannah texted me and told me to listen to Macklemore’s “Dance Off,” and now it’s been stuck in my head for the remainder of my day.

I wish I could say that I had something meaningful to pull from the many crevices of my brain so that I could write a decent blog tonight, but I don’t. Only the lyrics to this masterpiece.

So because I like to make sure that others join me in having songs stuck in their heads, have a listen:

Hopefully tomorrow will come with a new and exciting topic to write about.

So until then,

cheers. xx

Here, have some new music

In an effort to not be another day behind, I’ve decided to post another video, but this time to a song that I only heard for the first time in the past two weeks.

I haven’t got much to say about it, just that I’m diggin’ the sound of The Chainsmokers and I’m so happy that Jenna told me to give them a listen.

New music that I can fall in love with is some of my favorite stuff in life.

Until tomorrow,

I think it’s safe to say that we all have that one band or one specific song that brings us back to a different time. Maybe a time when you were going through hell and they helped you along. Or maybe it’s a time when you remember not having to worry about anything at all.

For me, it’s a cluster. A few different bands that bring me back to high school when I had such a mess of good and bad. Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Panic! At the Disco, The All-American rejects…I’ve been listening to them for as long as I can remember. And I always felt kind sad when they’d take a hiatus, or claim that they had broken up.

So, when I was scrolling through my FB feed yesterday, I was both confused and over-joyed when I found that AAR had recorded a new single. A song that left me writing in a comment:

This is beautiful.
Everything is perfect.
Nothing hurts.

Because for those four and a half minutes, things felt good and I was brought back to a time when my life was much easier than it seemed, and I could spend my time listening to bands in search of meaning for the things around me.

I love it when good things pop up at exactly the right time.

Until tomorrow,

I fell in love with this song today…

Sometimes I have a grave inner-conflict. I love to share the music I love with the people around me; I want everyone to experience and be moved by the compilation of letters and chords in a way that they may never recover from. My unapologetic hipster side, however, wants to keep all of the music I love to myself for fear that something beautiful becomes too popular and the beauty fades.

This song, however, I want to be shared. I want us all to soak it in and let it pull us along; have us be stretched and molded into something new.

And maybe this is a song that will only do something for me today, but I hope that it, at the very least, puts a smile on your face this evening.

Hopefully I’ll be back with some interesting things to talk about this week as I feel I’ve been lacking lately in my writing. I’m looking for inspiration everywhere, but not everything clicks. I’ll get there though.

So until tomorrow,

A song for the day

This song has been stuck in my head for a couple days now and I’m not really sure where it came from. But I’m not mad about it, it’s a bit nostalgic for me anyhow. 🙂

Nothing profound from me today, I’m afraid. I can’t get past these lyrics in my head anyway to write something worth reading today anyway. (Trust me: If I wouldn’t want to read it, neither would you. haha!)

So enjoy the break from my writing and have a bit of a jam session with Third Eye Blind this afternoon instead. 🙂

Until tomorrow,
